The dish is perfect for when you bring home 12 lbs of apples from apple picking or just when you want a yummy sweet and savory side dish. These maple brussels sprouts with apples and bacon are perfect for holiday get-togethers. I made these last year for a Christmas party and it was a hit!
Maple brussels sprouts are such a great combo. The bacon in this dish is great for a savory note. Then the maple and apples sweeten it up in the end. Plus, it’s easy to make on the stove so you can save your oven space for the ham and turkey, or my favorite – the mac and cheeeese.
Maple brussels sprouts with apple and baconPrint This
- 2 slices bacon, diced
- 1 lb brussels sprouts, halved
- 1 cup apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
Put your cut bacon in a skillet (I used cast iron) over medium heat and cook for about 5 minutes.
Add the brussels sprouts and mix them around. If your bacon didn’t release much fat, you might need to add some olive oil. Sautee for about 5 minutes. Add a splash of water just so steam is created and then cover the skillet with a lid for 5 minutes.
Uncover and add the apples and maple syrup. Stir around a cover back for 5 more minutes.
